As an avid romance reader and book club founder/member, I’ve always seen “reading guides” offered at bookstores but none (from what I’ve seen) are geared for Romance Books. There are guides for Literature, Teen, Self-Help, Faith, every genre but Romance. Heck I saw some guides the other day for Pet books. So not right. Why aren’t there any for romance books when this genre is the bestselling genre? I think having these at our Book Club meetings would be great. Keep the conversation going, so to speak.

Being the curious soul that I am, I visited all of, if not most of, the publishers websites to see if they offer anything in terms of discussion guides for romance novels. Imagine my surprise when there was nothing to be seen there. I sent off emails to each of the publisher websites I visited and was ignored for the most part. I did get two replies for two different publishers. Both basically had the same response. According to them, “readers had no interest in discussion guides for romance novels.” Seriously? Color me shocked when I read that because the person who replied to me was someone who works with Romance authors and novels ON. A. DAILY. BASIS. How can she think that? I’m not even going to worry about that. I’m of the mentality that if someone blocks you one way, just find a way to go around them or do your own thing and go on from there.

With that said, I’ve created a page here where I will be posting Romance Book Discussion Guides that Book Clubs and Readers can print and use for their clubs. The authors have been amazing when I asked for their helped. This will be an ongoing effort so please check back often to see what new Guides are up.

If you have any suggestions of books you’d like to see here, I welcome your suggestions, feel free to email me HERE.
